6 Tips On Leadership In The Network Marketing Industry

One thing that I have always said and is…“In order to be a leader, you must first follow a leader….then become one”. This can’t be further from the truth!

However, not everyone is cut out to be a leader. These are the types of people that continue to be followers and would rather build their network marketing business by the guidance of someone else (i.e. Mentors, Coaches, etc.) and there is nothing wrong with that. But understand that when you position yourself as a leader, people will start to look up to you & respect you and they will be attracted to you and ultimately they will want to join you in your business.

In order to be a successful Leader in the Network Marketing industry, there are certain traits that you must posses. They are as follows:

1. Will & Drive - You must be willing to step out of your comfort zone to learn and educate yourself on what it takes to be a true leader. However, without having the drive to want to succeed, you will fail. You have to be able to tough it out when the going gets tough and be willing to embrace the challenges and have the drive to overcome them no matter what.

2. Trustworthy – Integrity and honesty, when it comes to building a team in your network marketing business, is crucial. You have to win the trust of others to be a true leader. A good leader practices what he/she preaches, earning the right to lead others and have responsibility for them. Trustworthiness is the source of the real authority based on the trust of other people.

3. Confidence - A true leader must exude confidence in his/her role and position towards others. The team members will be highly motivated to do a good job when the leader is confident in his/her powers and theirs, at the same time.

4. Ambitious - A true leader will always strive for excellence in every aspect of his/her journey. You have to keep on doing the things that work and then you have to persistently teach these things to your business partners. If you have a great system in place, plug your business partners into that system and teach them the ropes so that they can be successful as well. But, never feel as if you can’t share your knowledge of fear that your business partners will be better at it. True leaders don’t worry about things like that anyway!

5. Patience – Without it, you will lose! There will be times when someone joins you in your business and challenging times may arise. This is where you have to set a good example and be extremely patient, especially with people new to this industry. Your job, as a leader, is to be there to mentor and coach your new business partners. Your job is to answer any and all questions that they have and to keep them motivated because the more you keep them motivated, the more you will stay motivated to do so, especially when you see that they are starting to generate leads.

6. Vision – Leadership can be thought of as a capacity to define oneself to others in a way that clarifies and expands a vision of the future. Your business partners look up to you. You have to see the vision in your head and you have to be able to explain and instill that vision into your downline. Leadership can be thought of as a capacity to define oneself to others in a way that clarifies and expands a vision of the future. When you do this, and your downline does this as well, you will all work on the same mission and can then make your team much more cohesive and focused. Do this and your MLM business success will skyrocket.

Remember…a great leader's courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position. You have to be compassionate. Compassion is a great human trait and if you can show compassion and empathy to your business partners, you will earn their trust and together you will both be able to work towards your common goals easier.

6 Reasons Why People Fail In Internet Network Marketing

There are many people trying to actively start an internet network marketing business. And they probably have been bombarded with various internet business opportunities that promise them to make thousands of dollars over night. So, what do they do? They proceed to sign up with the company in hopes of striking it rich.

They spend hours in front of their computer trying to make their business a success….but after a couple of weeks, nothing happened and they became frustrated! Now, they wonder what they did wrong because they failed and didn’t make one red cent. Sound familiar? I’m sure it does!

I’ve been in that situation before as many of you have been also. So, I know how frustrating it all can be and how much easier it may seem to just give up and quit. If you are in that same situation right now and you are thinking of quitting, please allow me to enlighten you on why you may be failing and hopefully this will inspire you to give it a second thought.

I’ve put together my top 6 reasons why I think people fail in the internet network marketing:

1. Not Taking Action – There are several reasons why people don’t take action and constantly make up excuses that they can’t find the time to work on their business. I personally started building my business while working 50 hours a week working in corporate America and raising a family at the same time. It all boils down to how bad you want something. I took action because I wanted to leave my job. I did not want to work for someone for the rest of my life. So, I took action!

2. Impatience - Too many people turn to the internet and expect to make a killing quickly. They fail because they were not patient enough to learn how to do it correctly and then a few months later, they give up saying that internet marketing does not work.

3. Failing to Have a To-Do-List - If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. If you do not have a list of things you need to accomplish to start seeing results, you won’t see results….Period! Write down a list of marketing strategies and fit them into your schedule. When you log on to your computer, know why you are logging on. Is it to write an article? Is it to network with people for 30 minutes on a social networking site? Is it to hang out in a forum for an hour. Write down exactly what you want to accomplish and check it off of your list when completed. Trust me, you will feel better!

4. Not Having A Positive Attitude – People who complain all the time and make up a bunch of excuses about why they can’t do this and do that, are all failures. On the other hand, people who stay focused, think positive thoughts, have patience, inspire other people, get inspired by other people and always have a will and the drive to learn, earn, and return, will always be one step ahead of the person who has a negative attitude or who are just simply lazy.

5. Lack of Consistency & Persistence – Consistency is often “un-romantic”, it doesn’t carry with it that same sense of spontaneity that the initial flash of inspiration had. It can often feel mechanical. The essence of consistency is repetition, which can often lead to boredom. But consistency is crucial. Persistence is very similar to consistency. But it implies a sense of effort as well. In order to be consistent, you also have to be persistent. They simply go hand and hand.

6. Lack of Training & Support – I’ve seen many times before people in the network marketing industry promoting their companies replicated website. This really is the number one reason why people fail with promoting their business online but I decided to save it for last because without applying 1-6, this part will not make a difference. People lack training. They come online not having a clue on how to promote their business. They send people to their replicated website but what they fail to realize is that people do not care about what they have to offer. 97% of people will not do business with them anyway. What you have to realize is that you need a marketing funnel. You need to start generating targeted qualified leads for your business and start building your own list. You need to get the training and support that you deserve so that you can fall into the 3% of people who make it in this industry. Once you understand this, everything else will fall into place.

Four Great Online Marketing Strategies For MLM Newbies

More and more people are flocking to the internet trying to figure out ways to make money online and are turning to Direct Sales or Multi-Level Marketing companies. The first thing to do is decide what niche is most suitable for you and start investigating the company of your choice.


Once you have figured out your niche and investigated the company, the only thing left for you to do is to join, familiarize yourself with the products and/or services and start learning how to market online. This is the fun part!

Now, most sponsors in the Direct Sales & Multi-Level Marketing business will tell you that you need to contact your initial list. However, this is the old school way of marketing. But, you are going to need more people to talk to if you are going to remain in business, right? This is where using internet marketing to build your Direct Sales or Multi-Level Marketing business comes in real handy.

There are several ways that you can use the internet to start building your opportunity by positioning yourself as a leader first. Here is a list of my favorite four (4):

1. Video Marketing – Marketing yourself on You Tube, Viddler, Metacafe and so many other video sharing websites are a great way to let people actually see you and feel your energy. If you create your videos naturally and be yourself, you will start to attract people to you. This is called “Attraction Marketing”.

2. Social Networking - Twitter, Facebook & Myspace offer an incredible opportunity to identify prospects. By creating a profile and networking with other users, you can literally have an unlimited pipeline of prospects to talk to about your products, services or opportunity.

3. Niche Discussion Forums – Do a search on Google for forums pertaining to Direct Sales, MLM or the topic of interest. By participating in the discussions and contacting participants on these forums, you can build a nice pipeline of prospects and start generating qualified leads.

4. Article Marketing – This is a great way to get prospects chasing you instead of you chasing them. Offer value in your articles and be sure to leave links leading back to your website, You Tube channel or blog in your signature. Although you won’t get immediate results with article marketing, understand that by posting articles on the internet, you are building “real estate” because those articles will be on the internet forever.


By implementing these four marketing strategies, you have more than enough effective ways to start building your Direct Sales or MLM opportunity online.

How To Use Facebook To Brand Yourself (For Network Marketers)!

I’ve decided to write this article because I’ve noticed a lot of people who are in network marketing are using Facebook incorrectly for their business.

The first thing you need to do is have two (2) Facebook accounts….one for business and one for personal. I personally have been using Facebook a lot lately for my business because I am intrigued by how this social networking site has actually been a benefit to me and my business.

I used to think that Facebook was a joke, with all the “poking” around that was going on. I used to say to myself, “who the hell wants to get poked all day”? But, then I started using it for business and oh what a great decision I made. Facebook has become one of the most popular social networking platforms mainly because it’s easy to network quickly with wide a variety of people in a more relaxed atmosphere.

There are many ways to use Facebook to help increase exposure to your business. More and more people every day are joining for the sole purposes of prospecting and networking. However, there is a right and a wrong way to use Facebook.

    MY TOP 5 RIGHT WAYS TO USE FACEBOOK

1. When someone requests to be your friend and you accept, write a warm welcome on their wall and thank them for requesting to be your friend.

2. If you see that one of your friends updated their status, comment on them to start up a conversation. You never know what may come out of it. But be sure to show a genuine interest.

3. If you have a group on Facebook, invite them to join. Ask them to invite their friends as well (if the topic of your group is of interest to them).

4. If you have an event or call taking place outside of Facebook, don’t blast all of your friends with an invite (unless they are in your group). Instead, update your status with the event details or link leading back to a page where they can get the information. If they see it in your profile, they will respond naturally if they are interested.

5. If you come across any information, tool or resource that can be beneficial to someone, send it to them via direct message. Trust me…they will be thankful that you took the time to reach out to them personally. Especially if you are sharing something that they can benefit from. That is a great way to spark up a conversation.

    MY TOP 5 WRONG WAYS TO USE FACEBOOK

1. DO NOT spam other people’s wall with your business opportunity or affiliate product. Instead, post it on YOUR wall/blog and invite others to come and take a look. You can use your status area for this. (i.e. “Hey Everyone, I just posted a new comment on my wall/blog. Come and check it out”).

2. DO NOT post videos on other people’s wall to talk about your business opportunity. It is rude and disrespectful, especially if they are in the MLM industry. They have their own business they are trying to promote.

3. DO NOT send more than who messages a day to the people in your group (if you have one). Try to keep it at 1 message a day but definitely not more than two.

4. DO NOT send someone an instant message just to talk about your business. If you are going to instant message someone, do it only to introduce yourself or to talk about a topic that you think they may be interested in. Always learn more about them and naturally they will want to learn more about you as well.

5. If you are in the network marketing industry and are on facebook to prospect, make sure you do your due diligence and investigate the person you intend to prospect. He/She may not even be in the network marketing industry and may have no interest whatsoever in your or anyone else’s business opportunity. So, don’t take the chance and ruin a relationship because people who are NOT in the network marketing industry may get turned off if you try to prospect them. Instead, just be friends with them. Besides, you never know who they know.

Remember…build relationships FIRST before anything else.

What To Look For In A Business Opportunity

What a fabulous idea that you decided to start a home based business. Having the passion, will and drive is only a piece of the puzzle. And if you decide to join the first opportunity that is presented to you, you will most likely find yourself quickly regretting your decision.

When choosing the right business opportunity, you have to make sure that it fits into your schedule and lifestyle.

Analyze whether or not the product is legit and is something that the masses want and need.

You have to set a vision of where it is that you want to be. A lot of people fail because they try to juggle more than one business opportunity. Pick one business opportunity and learn how to be very good at it. You will reap the long-term rewards. And treat that opportunity as if YOU created it.

Direct Sales or Multi-Level Marketing?

Personally, I like direct sales…..but I absolutely love Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) because of the residual income.

With a direct sales business, you always get paid for your actions. And you do not have to depend on your downline before you earn money for your hard work.

Basically the best thing to do is find a direct sales opportunity (that also has 2 or 3 tier structure) with a great product and a great community of support which delivers tremendous value, not only to you but your customers as well.

So, why should you look for a direct sales opportunity with 2 or 3 tier structures?

Simple! You want to get paid immediately for your efforts (direct sales) PLUS you want to get paid from other people that you bring into the business as well (residual income). This is KEY to long term financial success.

Low Ticket vs. Big Ticket Items!

Low ticket and big ticket sales require the same amount of time to close. However with big ticket items you make much more money for the same amount of time, energy, and effort. Why sell a product putting $30 in your pocket when you can just as easily earn hundreds of dollars with the same effort?

Find A Leader/Mentor!

Find qualified leadership...You must find someone who is already successful as your mentor. If they are working the same business opportunity from home on a full time basis, you know that you’ve found yourself a winner. Otherwise you are wasting your time, energy, and effort listening to someone who can't help you.

When speaking to your potential leader, make it your business to be in charge of the interview with them. You should be the one conducting the interview, not the other way around. Ask lots of questions and do not ever be afraid to ask for detailed explanations to satisfy your points of interest.
